J. Nymera is a dark fantasy author based in Yorkshire, England, writing stories about liminal worlds, found families, and the kind of magic that feels less like sparkles and more like something old turning over in its sleep.
Obsessed with British folklore since before she could articulate why, Nymera writes fantasy shaped by old roads, hedge boundaries, and the particular feeling of a landscape that remembers more than it lets on. Her work tends toward the strange and the tender in equal measure — characters who are thoroughly themselves even when the world is falling apart around them.
She is openly queer and AuDHD, and both things show up in the work — in protagonists who pattern-match their way through impossible situations, in worlds where belonging is complicated and hard-won, and in a persistent refusal to write characters who fit neatly into the boxes the story builds for them.
The Fractured Spiral — her debut series — began as a grief project and became something larger than expected, as the best things tend to. All four books are written and available now. More worlds are in progress.
When not writing, she is probably in the garden, foraging something she probably shouldn't, or deep in a rabbit hole about folklore that definitely started as research and is now just living there.
